  • i remember curly ricketts he was a really lovely person and as he was the local funeral director it was like he cared for all of the people he had go through his chapel because he knew most of them. I remembered when i was at my dads funeral he caught me as i went uneasy and felt faint.

  • Regarding Rickett’s the Undertakers advertisement. I remember him well when I was a boy. He was as bald as a billiard ball and was lovingly referred as “Curly” Rickett. He had a great sense of humour and no matter what you would say to him, he would always tell you it does not matter what you call him, “I’ll get you in the end!”

  • Hi all, Bill MOWER’s daughter Janis my wife, worked at the station shop in the late 50’s. I wonder if anyone remembers her. Bill MOWER died Oct 1987 in Kawerau, New Zealand, Where his son John and family still live.

  • I remember Bill Mower who had a general store in Calcutta Road (I think it was on the corner of Toronto Road). He had another shop as you came out of Tilbury Town Station. He sold this one to Jack Allen Taxis in the 1960’s.
