Hi Michael, Gordon Bass did work at Tilbury Fire Station and was there during the war years. He lived in Kelvin Road, Tilbury and his daughter Norma still lives in Tilbury. I fondly remember watching the fire engines leave the station and see them train in the yard as I lived at the corner of Kelvin Road next to the Station. Later my uncle Laurie Jordan was stationed there and his picture appears on another page

My Father used to talk about a fireman who he used to call “bassy”, so I presume that this is the fireman in the photo.
