  • This colourful bulk carrier started life in Japan in 1975 as SEIAN MARU, owned by Kyosei Kisen, of Kobe. Sold in 1983, she was renamed SAMMI FORTUNE (20,512 tons gross, 35,044 deadweight) by her new owner, Pan Ocean Shipping Co Ltd, of Seoul, South Korea. Pan Ocean, then a relatively new company, operated a very large fleet, mostly bulk carriers, and SAMMI FORTUNE was in service with that company for 20 years, being broken up in China in 2003.
