I found this uncredited photo in the Grays Library archive it shows a London Transport RT bus in Dock Road working route 371A which ran from from Stonehouse Corner to Tilbury Feenan Highway.
I also worked at Grays bus garage during the 1960,s first as an operating apprentice then a conductor. I would love to get hold of any photo,s of the bus garage at this time.

The rear quarter of the car in the foreground looks suspiciously like a Vauxhall Cresta, possibly one of Jack Allen’s taxis.

I was also a Conductor based at the Grays Depot in the Early 70s my main route was from Tilbury Riverside Stn to Romford via grays, and Upminster, I think it was route 370, happy days

I worked for London Transport in 1960s and for London Country Buses in the 1970s The 371A service operated between Purfleet Station and Tilbury Feenan Highway The 371 service ran from Rainham Clock Tower via Tunnel Garage to Tilbury Feenan Highway and the 371B ran from Rainham Clock Tower to Tilbury Feenan Highway (Jim’s Cafe ) via Sandy Lane and Mill Road Aveley.i I was a conductor It was one the most enjoyable jobs I ever had.

This bus was one of those based at the garage on the corner of Hogg Lane and London Road in Grays after London Transport took over from Eastern National in 1951. The 371 routes replaced the Eastern National route 31 which ran between Jim’s Cafe at Tilbury Feenan HIghway and Grays.
